A Neighborhood Gathering Place Offering Connection, Community, and Hope in the Name of Christ
Vestal, a tight-knit community in South Knoxville, has long been overlooked. While the neighborhood is rich with multi-generational ties and resilient families, challenges like addiction, poverty, and isolation remain prevalent. Many parents feel hesitant to send their children outside, concerned about exposure to drug activity and violence.
At BLOC Knoxville, we see a different future for Vestal—a future where its strengths are celebrated, and its families thrive. One step toward this vision is The Sanctuary, a community gathering space located at 676 Maryville Pike, directly across from the historic Candoro Marble Building.
Our Vision for The Sanctuary
The Sanctuary will serve as a warm, welcoming space where neighbors can connect, share meals, and build relationships. While our plans will unfold over time, we envision:
- A pay-as-you-can café offering coffee, light meals, and meaningful conversation.
- Opportunities for teaching, skill-building, and community programming.
- A place for after-school activities, small groups, Bible studies, and other neighborhood gatherings.
